The WBA kicks off its program year with Stars of the Bar. The event is attended by leaders in the DC legal community, women and men alike, who gather to network, learn more about the WBA, and celebrate our Stars.

This year's program will be virtual, but a great celebration nonetheless. In support of our 2021-2022 bar year theme, “Getting Back to the Basics,” we are honoring women who are “FIRSTS” in their respective roles. Since its inception, the WBA has been advocating for women’s proper place in the legal profession and has celebrated women’s successes and triumphs. We are “Getting Back to the Basics” by, once again, honoring our trailblazers.

We are pleased to announce our star-quality honorees. Join us on September 22, 5:30pm, to recognize their achievements.

The Mussey-Gillett Shining Star Award was established by the Women’s Bar Association to recognize women who go above and beyond through volunteer activities within the WBA. This year, we are pleased to honor WBA Board members Lauren Brown and Renée-Lauren Ellis for their exemplary contributions to the association. In support of the WBA's commitment to being Friends and Allies (our 2020-2021 Bar year theme), they developed the WBA’s Discussing Racism & Being Anti-Racist Toolkit. This comprehensive repository of resources, as well as accompanying programming, has brought value to our members and leaders, and was recognized by the National Conference of Women’s Bar Associations.
