Presented by: WBA Community Projects Committee

Help survivors of human trafficking seek justice by volunteering with the WBA Community Projects Committee and the Human Trafficking Legal Center (HTLC). Volunteers will assist participants in completing forms to seek relief under a recent DOJ settlement, providing meaningful support to those rebuilding their lives. The WBA is pleased to introduce members to HTLC, which will provide training for volunteers and connect them with potential clients

This opportunity is open to DC-barred attorneys only and will include the provision of legal advice to individual clients. All participating attorneys must be covered under their own or their firm’s malpractice insurance policy.

A training session led by HTLC will take place from 11am to 12pm, followed by the clinic from 12pm to 3pm. Survivors will meet privately with volunteers in conference rooms. A light lunch will be provided by our generous host, Baker McKenzie.

Please note that this opportunity has not been cleared for federal government employees. Due to a potential conflict with DOJ, federal participants should confirm eligibility with their agency’s ethics office before volunteering.
